3D Printed Tool

FINAL PROJECT!

Making a tool is never an easy thought. An useful item that makes your life better in some way, What could do that. Well at first me and Micheal thought a little pen Ferris Wheel would be the object of dreams, but we needed to simplify. And simplify we did. We thought of an object that only preschoolers could dream of, really, We thought of a pen dispenser, If I could find my original horrid sketch ups, you would see the idea evolve into what it is now, but you can't and I am sorry, With thoughts bouncing around like a sea sick Elvis Presley, the ideas for materials came up pretty fast, Threaded rod, some bolts and an ABS pipe. After measuring a pencil, and me throwing the designs into Rhino. It took it's first stage!

Cutting the abs pipe to the length of a pencil was no issue at all. The adding of 0.02 inches of room was also a very helpful aspect when it came to the 3D models.
OK, but there were a lot of failed attempts, I actually designed my own bearing type lid after the first didn't work, not bragging but it did only take me half an hour to think it up. I am totally bragging, but it was on Sunday at 1130 at night, and it is was due next day. That was just perfect problem solving. due to time restraints
.

After a complete weekend of non stop work, I am in fact including Friday. I finished with a working product, here is a look at the guts.

After the pencil dispensor was completed it just needed to be polished by cutting the end of threaded rod off.

Here are some Gifs of Brian working the pencil dispenser.
