First Phase Prototype

Guess what...
I went with the...
CONDOM :D

Now it is time to see if the effort can be put into making this an effective item,

The design was not only intricate in some aspects, but very much easy to work with in terms of tabbing and gluing. Well anyway it seemed to be in Rhino. It wasn't too bad until I started working on the base elastic thingy. This Jimmy hat gave me some bad lip, if you know what I'm saying.

And then this silo looking architecture ended up being the result. I was not too happy. A great start to the condom project though.

Papercraft Objects

Papercraft Objects

Otherwise known as...
My nightmare!

1) Screw Driver

Many aspects of the screwdriver would be useless as a paper object, no? Well guess what maybe I can prove you wrong with new never thought of ideas.

2) Birdhouse

This is a big ol' treat as I have a pet bird at home and she would love this. I just don't see the potential other than it can be destroyed by her.

3) Pylon

Now a very interesting object used as a guiding marker. Made out of paper this certainly does have potential.

4) A hat how cute.

You can wear away the troubles with this little beast, just not during a rainstorm, it is paper after all. That is more trouble than it is worth.

5) The CONDOM
My favorite object as this was written by me from the future. This is most likely the object I will go with. It is funny and has tons of potential,

6) The ol' stap a rocket.

That's RIGHT!!! get yourself a thin strip of ribbon and get ready to be a kid again with strap a rocket. Tie this paper object to your greasy boot and blast off with your friends to imagination land. Warning will crumple under light pressure.

7) Chair

It's a fuckin chair.

8) Jack in the box without the jack!

This has a lot of potential as a finished paper object, If we were to put a Jack in there, what kind of Jack would suit it. Who knows? ( A springy condom maybe*cough* *cough*)

9) Pyramid
If you thought the box was amazing check this bad boy out. Like the pyramids a lot of time and effort was put into the design, and can stand the tests of mother nature herself.. I am just not sure how to make it either interactive or move.
10) Wall
I will put billions of dollars into this and build it between the border of Mexico and the United States. It will be made out of paper, because that is my idea and it is a good idea.

Papercraft Research

    PAPER CRAFT RESEARCH
Vincent Tomczyk

The artist, Vincent Tomczyk, sorry it keeps trying to auto correct his name as Tomcat, I thought would be funny to mention, I may be wrong. Anyway this artist makes the everyday product of paper seemingly look like usual household objects. With many years of experience in the area of craft, he can almost make any item seamlessly look like it could not be so delicate. The artworks are often placed as if ready to be enjoyed, plus have the wear and tear as if it had been thor ough ly enjoyed. Sometimes enjoyed too much, of course I am looking at the jean shorts. Those jean shorts are one of those fashion faux pas that should have been forgotten with the rest of history(not proven).

His work as I understand it is a way of giving the ordinary person, a chance to look at everything in a new way. As if you were an old timer slowly floating through life with a lack of any absolute certainty, because it is constantly getting ripped away, "AAAGNNNUUUSSSS, I swore to god I thought it was a shirt." "Well Earl you got to stop trying on shirts at galleries. We lose more priceless paper objects that way," Seriously please make me stop, my jokes are even pissing me off.

Perfect last paragraph. I would like to live by this artists example and take an everyday object, and recreate a likeliness out of paper. The only difference is I would still like it to be in some way functional. I love movement in my work but the use of paper is really intriguing. As our instructor put it, if you can make it out of paper you could most likely make it out of anything that is also a flats surface. This could be some of the most important steps in my work if that is true!
